Why do it at all? If the ball is going out, just let it go out, you dont have to catch it. If a ball bounces out of the court area, do not leave your position to go hunt for it unless it is near. Sure you might only do it when you are two feet behind the baseline, but you know someone is going to do it closer. When the players do not change sides, the balls do.

So when someone does do it, they stick out like a sore thumb and you have to wonder if they know what they are doing out there.Īnyways it's a moronic practice and Id hate it if everyone does it. And Ive only ran across one other random person who did it as well. In the past 6 years or so, I can only think of two people who I know regularly catch the ball. I could care less about who wins the point or who doesnt win the point, but either way you didnt have to catch the ball.Īlthough I did think about it and from my perspective it really doesnt happen a whole lot with the people I play with. If a declared Infield Fly falls untouched to the ground outside the baseline, and bounces fair before passing first or third base, it is an Infield Fly. Why did you feel the need to do it? That's the question. If a declared Infield Fly is allowed to fall untouched to the ground, and bounces foul before passing first or third base, it is a foul ball. So we dont have to prove why we should win the point, it's because you did something that you are not supposed to do. This is obviously beyond you, but there is a rule that says that if you touch the ball, you lose the point.

Because to some people it's rude, (they already hit the ball out, they dont need to see you catch it on top of it), and it's an ignorant thing to do.
